9mobile, Nigeria’s innovative telecommunications company recently hosted Photojournalists to a dynamic Capacity Building Workshop themed “New Technologies in Photography and Their Applications in Photojournalism.”

The workshop which saw the participation of accomplished photojournalists eager to elevate their craft was facilitated by Modo Ekene Victor, a trailblazer in photography; an accredited FIFA.com, CAF/LMC/NPFL photojournalist and the 2019 Photojournalist of the Year by the Nigerian Sports Awards.

9mobile’s Public Relations Lead, Chineze Amanfo, speaking before the workshop, emphasised the importance of embracing technological advancements in the ever-evolving landscape of photojournalism.

“As a company deeply rooted in innovation, 9mobile recognises the transformative power of technology in shaping the future of various industries, including the art of storytelling through photography.

“Today’s workshop is a demonstration of our commitment to empowering the media with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive in the digital era,” said Amanfo.

Modo meticulously curated the workshop in two parts using theory and practical sessions and addressed the intersection of new technologies and photojournalism.

During the workshop, he provided participants with a unique opportunity to delve into the latest trends and innovations and guided them through a series of interactive sessions designed to enhance their technical skills and creative vision, while also monetizing their skills.

Furthermore, Modo expressed his enthusiasm for the workshop, stating, “It is an honour to facilitate this workshop for 9mobile and interact with a dedicated group of photojournalists from different organisations.

The integration of new technologies opens up endless possibilities, and I believe the skills acquired here will empower these professionals to push the boundaries of their craft.”

Amanfo further stated that “9mobile remains committed to driving innovation and supporting the growth of journalists in Nigeria. The capacity-building session demonstrates the company’s commitment to fostering skill development and staying at the forefront of technological advancements.”

The 9mobile capacity building session is a quarterly training session to engage and train media professionals to improve their skills and expose them to relevant information, context, and nuances for maximum performance in their field.
