Excitement is in the air with preparations in full swing in Umunneochi Local Government Area, as the community gears up to welcome the Executive Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Chioma Otti, for the official flag-off of the highly anticipated 12-kilometre Ngodo-Umuaku-Mbala Road Project.

The Executive Chairman of Umunneochi LGA, Chief Sunny Afurobi, who announced this in a statement on Thursday, expressed enthusiasm about the governor’s visit, describing it as a historic moment for the local government area.

Speaking on behalf of the local government’s management, staff, elected and appointed officials, the Abia Arise family, and key stakeholders, Chief Afurobi highlighted the importance of the project in boosting infrastructure and improving connectivity within the area.

The release from the Executive Chairman stated that the flag-off event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, at Ngodo Girls Secondary School Premises at 12 noon prompt.

In anticipation of the governor’s arrival, Chief Afurobi has extended invitations to various community groups, including the Umunneochi Traditional Rulers Advisory Council, their Ugoezes, Presidents General of Isuochi, Nneato, and Umuchieze towns, along with their Women and Youth Wings.

Leaders of autonomous communities, heads of religious groups, members of the All Farmers Association, representatives from Umunneochi Nolly, transport unions, market unions, and online groups are also expected to be in attendance.

The Mayor urged residents of Umunneochi to show up in large numbers to demonstrate their support and solidarity for Governor Otti’s development agenda.

The road project is expected to significantly enhance transportation and economic activities within the region, fostering greater access to essential services and boosting local trade.
