As it intensifies efforts to translate digital training into measurable economic outcomes, the Federal Government has unveiled a new initiative—the 3MTT Impact Challenge—to assess the real-world impact of its flagship 3 Million Tech Talent (3MTT) programme.
The Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, Dr. Bosun Tijani, announced the challenge on Tuesday via his official X handle, describing it as a key step in deepening accountability and strengthening results as the programme enters its scale-up phase.
According to the minister, more than 135,000 Nigerians have been trained across three cohorts during the pilot phase of the 3MTT programme, while community-driven learning efforts have expanded access to over 300,000 learners nationwide.

He noted that the initiative has already contributed to the creation of 15,000 job and opportunity pathways, adding that over 1.8 million Nigerians are currently in the 3MTT pipeline as the government works towards its target of equipping three million citizens with in-demand digital skills.
“Beyond these numbers, our focus as we scale is on deepening impact—strengthening the alumni community, expanding access to opportunities, and ensuring that skills acquired translate into real economic outcomes,” Tijani stated.
As part of preparations for the next phase of the programme, the 3MTT Impact Challenge will serve as a feedback and measurement tool, allowing the government to hear directly from programme beneficiaries and partners.
Through the challenge, fellows and stakeholders are invited to share their personal “before and after” stories on how the 3MTT programme has influenced their learning, careers, or enterprises.
“As part of this next phase, I would like to hear directly from Fellows and partners through the #3MTTImpactChallenge on how 3MTT has shaped your journey so far, through the 3MTT National Impact Reflection,” the minister stated.
Entries are to be shared on social media platforms including Facebook, LinkedIn, X, TikTok, and Instagram, using the hashtags #My3MTTStory, #3MTTImpactChallenge, and #3MTTNigeria.
Participants are also required to tag the official accounts of President Bola Tinubu, the Minister of Communications, Innovation and Digital Economy, and 3MTT Nigeria, as well as at least two partner organisations.
These include UNDP, Airtel Nigeria, MTN Nigeria, Huawei, Moniepoint, Google, Microsoft, the European Union, AWS, IHS, and Denmark.
The submission deadline is Monday, February 14, 2026. Incentives for outstanding entries include 10 laptops, 200 e-tablets, 10GB data bundles, and other rewards.
The 3MTT programme is a core component of the Federal Government’s digital economy agenda, aimed at building a globally competitive workforce and expanding technology-driven employment opportunities across Nigeria.
