The evolving sound of Nigerian music took centre stage at Supremacy Concert 10, as Johnnie Walker AfroExchange used the milestone event to spotlight the artists, influences and cultural exchanges that have shaped a generation.
Held on Saturday, October 3, at the Eko Convention Centre, Lagos, the 10th edition of Supremacy Concert featured performances by Tiwa Savage, Wande Coal and Kizz Daniel, bringing together distinct eras of Nigeria’s contemporary music in one vibrant celebration.
Tiwa Savage delivered performances of Koroba, Lova Lova and other hits alongside female dancers, while Wande Coal, dressed in an orange double-breasted suit, evoked nostalgia with Pere, a favourite from his early career, before moving on to Iskaba and other popular records.
Kizz Daniel, meanwhile, maintained a strong connection with the audience, commanding the stage as he performed a selection of contemporary Afropop hits from his catalogue.
Together, the performances highlighted the different stages through which the three artistes have contributed to the Nigerian music story, from enduring songs that continue to resonate with audiences to contemporary records shaping the sound of today.
Beyond the performances, the Johnnie Walker AfroExchange experience added another layer to the evening, with Johnnie Walker Black cocktails served throughout the event in unique serves inspired by African culture.
The AfroExchange photo wall and craft session, anchored by the brand’s distinctive gold Striding Man, also provided guests with opportunities for interaction and creative expression. The elements reinforced the broader AfroExchange concept, bringing music, drinks and visual culture together in a space reflecting the diverse influences shaping contemporary African culture.
Speaking on the partnership, Michele Mballa Mekongo, Customer Marketing Manager, said: “Keep Walking speaks to the people who continue to find a way forward. That spirit is evident in African music, where every generation draws from what came before and finds new ways to express itself. The sound continues to evolve, but the influence of those who shaped it remains.”
“Supremacy 10 gave us an opportunity to celebrate that journey through Johnnie Walker AfroExchange. The artists featured at the concert reflected the exchange at the heart of Nigerian music, where different voices, experiences and sounds continue to influence one another,” she added.
The event attracted a mix of entertainment personalities and public figures, including Hon. Princess Lara Oyekan Olumegbon, while comedy legend AY was among the hosts.
For Johnnie Walker AfroExchange, the occasion provided a platform to connect with audiences at the intersection of music, memory and culture, while celebrating the artists and influences that continue to give Nigerian music its enduring appeal.
