China Ends 2022 With Over 1Bn 5G Subscribers

China Mobile added only 325,000 mobile customers in December 2022, compared to an addition of 1.42 million mobile customers in November, and a loss of nearly 786,000 mobile customers in October.

China Mobile remained the largest mobile operator on the local market in the month, ending December with a total of 975 million mobile customers.

China Telecom added only 100,000 users in the month, ending December with 391.08 million users in total.

China Unicom ended December with 861.74 million ‘Big connectivity’ customers, from 853.72 million in November.

The company’s 5G subscriber base advanced to 212.7 million in December from 209.4 million in November, and IoT terminal connections went up to 385.54 million in December from 376.4 million in the previous month.

China Mobile again recorded the biggest gain in 5G subscribers, up by nearly 18.60 million to 614 million at end-December. China Telecom brought in 5.02 million 5G users in the month, for a total of 267.96 million.

On the wireline broadband market, China Mobile added 2.22 million customers in December, for a total of 272.1 million.

China Telecom brought in 270,000 customers for a total of 180.90 million.
