All is now set for the kick-off of the much-anticipated Lagos Motor Show (LMS) billed to be held on February 16-17, 2024, at the main arena of the historic Tafawa Balewa Square, Onikan, Lagos.
The Lagos Motor Show is an exhibition that will showcase Modern, Classic, Vintage Cars, Eco-friendly Electric Vehicles (EV), Robotics and autonomous vehicles, Electric Tricycles and E-mobility.
Speaking during a press conference in Lagos on Thursday, Chairman of the Organising Committee and Chief Promoter of the event, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo said the exhibition will feature innovations and developments in the auto industry such as the Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles, energy-efficient cars, Electric Vehicles, and Compressed Natural Gas (CNG)-powered low emission vehicles.
Adebayo said the two-day event expected to be attended by over 2000 visitors, will showcase classic cars evoking nostalgia and highlight the latest trends and innovations in the automotive industry.
“Motor companies, Motorboat Companies, Car Collectors, and Transport Logistics companies will attend the event. The event will be an exciting opportunity to bring together car enthusiasts and their families, purchasers, decision-makers and dealers.
“Our aim is that the show will be an annual event that will attract thousands of automotive enthusiasts, industry professionals, and media representatives,” Adebayo said.
While describing the Show as a highly anticipated event in the Nigerian automotive calendar, Adebayo said the two-day auto showpiece will provide corporate brands with unparalleled visibility among industry leaders, influencers, and potential customers.
“It will record a high number of visitors who are automobile buyers, decision-makers, motor enthusiasts, banks, insurance companies, small-scale auto entrepreneurs, representatives of foreign trade missions and multinational companies,” he said.
Speaking on the targeted audience for the event, the Chairman said the Show is an opportunity to engage with a diverse audience, including car enthusiasts, industry professionals, and potential buyers, offering brands the chance to connect with a broad range of demographics.
According to him, “The Show will offer an opportunity to interact with haulage, logistics, car hire companies, digital taxi companies, passenger transporters, financial institutions, Insurance, loans companies and other potential buyers and decision-makers.”
He further stated that the event will provide networking opportunities for both visitors and exhibitors, providing them the platform to participate in exclusive networking events, connecting with key decision-makers, industry professionals, haulage, logistics, car hire companies, passenger transporters, and potential clients in a dynamic and engaging environment.
He added that Corporate organisations including banks, insurance companies, financiers, auto-entrepreneurs and representatives from foreign trade missions and multinational companies will be in attendance.
Adebayo assured that the two-day event is an opportunity for people to have access to existing forum of owners and enthusiasts, and noted that the Classic Cars Collectors of Nigeria, a community of over 100 classic and vintage car collectors and enthusiasts, will showcase their collections.
He announced a Tech Theatre, a dedicated technology exhibition that will feature innovations, the Internet of Things (IoT) in automobiles and other developments in the automotive industry, including Electric Vehicles, Electric Tricycles and gas-powered low-emission ECO-friendly vehicles.
While disclosing that part of the proceeds from the event and activities will be donated to charitable causes, Adebayo stated that in cooperation with the Lagos State Government Agencies, Security and Traffic Management Agencies, ease of access to the venue will be guaranteed and security and safety of the entire exhibition area fully assured.
Notable Nigerians expected at the event include His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, who will be the Chief Host; and the Executive Governor of Kwara State and Chairman of Nigeria Governors Forum, His Excellency, Gov. Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq, who will be the Special Guest of Honour.
Other dignitaries expected at the event include the Governors of Kaduna, Niger, Katsina, Bauchi and Jigawa States; Chief Olu Okeowo, Founder and Chairman of Gibraltar Construction Company Limited, a Car enthusiast; and His Royal Highness, Barrister Mohammed Sanni Haliru Dantoro CFR, Kitoro IV. (Mai Borgu), The Emir of Borgu Kingdom, Niger State, who will be the Royal Father of the event.
