Google has opened applications for this year’s Black Founders Fund for Startups in Africa and Europe.

Startups from Africa applying for the fund must be headquartered in the continent or have a legal presence on the continent.

Established in 2020, the Google for Startups Founders Funds has so far provided more than $30 million to support Black-led startups in Africa, Brazil, Europe, and the United States, and Latino-led startups in the United States.

At least 110 black-owned businesses in Africa have benefited from two successful cohorts.

Selected founders receive up to $150,000 in capital along with ongoing Google mentorship, Google Cloud credits, and product support to help them navigate every stage of their startup journey.

“Startups are a critical driver of innovation, economic growth, and social progress especially in Africa and the support that the selected startups will receive will go a long way to unlock the potential and promote growth in the African tech ecosystem and the next generation of African tech entrepreneurs.

“We encourage all eligible startups to apply,” said Folarin Aiyegbusi, head of startup ecosystem at Google Sub-Saharan Africa.

Applications close on March 26th.
