Danbatta assured telecom consumers across Nigeria that the Commission will not rest on its oars until the challenges of telecoms consumers have been reduced to the barest minimum.

Executive Vice Chairman of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), Prof. Umar Garba Danbatta has said that the Commission has been actively involved in the actualisation of the Federal Government’s financial inclusion target of 20% exclusion or 80% inclusion by the year 2020.  However,  the EVC recalled that a recent report by EFInA, a financial sector development organisation, indicates that even though its data showed that more people have become financially included, the financial inclusion pace was, however, not matching the country’s population growth rate. The latest report by the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) has shown that Nigeria’s telecommunications industry, regulated by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), is one of the sectors whose performance lifted the country out of recession in the fourth quarter of 2020, contributing 12.45 per cent to the country’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP).
