Scholarship Offers 4-5 Years Of Support For ICT Education

News Highlights:

  • Prince (Dr.) Chris Odinaka Igwe has launched a specialised scholarship under the Chris Odinaka Igwe Foundation.
  • The scholarship scheme aims to produce top Information and Communications Technology (ICT) experts from Isuochi, Abia State.
  • The inaugural edition will benefit 20 indigenes from the 9 communities of Isuochi and 5 non-indigenes, totaling 25 recipients.

Prince (Dr.) Chris Odinaka Igwe, Chairman/Chief Executive Officer, Chrisnak Group of Companies, has instituted a specialised scholarship scheme aimed at producing top Information and Communications Technology (ICT) gurus expected to be game changers from this part of the world.

Established under his Chris Odinaka Igwe Foundation, the scholarship scheme is the business mogul’s way of giving back to his Isuochi community in Abia State, as well as part of the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative of his business conglomerate.

Digital TimesNG can report that 20 indigenes of Isuochi drawn from the 9 communities that make up the town, and 5 non-indigenes, making a total to 25, stand the chance of benefitting in the inaugural edition of the scheme.

The Chris Odinaka Igwe Foundation’s focus on Information and Communications Technology (ICT), is designed to support the educational aspirations of young Nigerians, especially against the background that Artificial Intelligence (AI) and other emerging technologies are directing global affairs in all aspects of human endeavour in t today’s world and for the foreseeable future.

In a statement on its website, the Chris Odinaka Igwe Foundation said, “In the inaugural phase, we are privileged to award scholarships to two outstanding candidates from each of the nine clans of Isuochi, totaling 18 awardees.

“This initiative aims to facilitate their pursuit of a comprehensive 4 to 5-year University/Tertiary Education Programme in Information Technology.”

It said that upon the completion of the initial assessment of all applicants, selected candidates will be invited for a scholarship interview, adding that candidates will be notified of the date for the aptitude exam, which is a crucial part of the selection process.

“From each clan, the top two candidates who excel in both the aptitude exam and interview will be chosen to receive the scholarship.

“This meticulous approach ensures that we identify and support the most deserving candidates who demonstrate academic excellence and a strong commitment to pursuing a career in Information and Communications Technology (ICT),” the Foundation noted.

The Foundation reiterated its commitment to a rigorous selection process aimed at identifying the most promising candidates for its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) scholarship programme.

It stated that it ensures transparency and fairness in its selection process through Application review, merit-based criteria, and aptitude examination, ensuring that the worthy applicant receives the merited scholarship.

“Through this comprehensive approach, we guarantee that our scholarship recipients embody exceptional promise in the field of Information and Communications Technology,” the Foundation disclosed.

The Foundation said the initial interviews of applicants will be via Zoom, and the profiled candidates will undertake a written exam and aptitude test thereafter for the selection of the final two per clan in Isuochi and an additional two from his home clan, Amuda.

Interested candidates are required to apply immediately at https://www.coifoundation.com/ and prepare for the upcoming examination.

A Bachelor of Science degree holder in Public Administration from the Lagos State University, Prince (Dr.) Chris Odinaka Igwe is an alumnus of Lagos Business School, Owner Manager Programme (OMP) and Harvard Business School Owner President Management Course.

He is a renowned businessman with a wealth of experience spanning over 22 years in downstream and midstream oil and gas operations, shipping and logistics and agriculture.

Igwe is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Chrisnak Group of Compares, and has acquired enormous Management and Entrepreneurial Education, both locally and overseas, with a track record of strategic business management and administration.

He is a two-time recipient of the Investor of the Year Award from The Sun newspaper in 2020 and 2022 and is also a recipient of the Nigeria National Award of the Officer of the Order of the Federal Republic (OFR) for his sterling contributions to national socio-economic development.
