On a recent episode of ‘Let’s Talk with Glory Itiafe,’ broadcast on Diamond885FM, Osasenaga Usoh, tech innovator and founder of the Federation of Data and Technology Council (FEDTC), shared bold insights on the future of AI, education, and what it truly means to build solutions that serve everyone.
Usoh, who is also the creator of FasTutorAI, described AI not just as a disruptive force, but as a tool to reimagine opportunity.
“AI must not be a luxury—it must become a locally built solution to global challenges,” he said during the interview.
Why Fear AI, When You Can Lead It?
When asked whether AI should be feared for taking jobs, Osasenaga shifted the narrative completely:
“It’s not about machines replacing people—it’s about humans evolving with machines.”
Rather than feed fear, his vision centres on reskilling, access, and innovation. It’s what led him to launch the AI Education Tour and outreach in 2022 and what continues to drive the mission of FEDTC across the continent and beyond.
What is FasTutorAI?
At the heart of Usoh’s work is FasTutorAI, a smart learning system designed for students, educators, and individual learners who need more than just access to content; they need guidance, support, and a learning experience tailored to their level.
“FasTutorAI is not just a chatbot. It’s a smart tutor, a research companion, and a coding mentor all in one,” he explained.
More than just a tool, FasTutorAI is an intelligent tutoring system built to power personalized learning and adapt to diverse curriculum needs. It’s already being used in public classrooms and rural schools, from Nigeria to the United States, and has proven benefits:
- Reduces teacher workload by up to 40%
- Adapts to learning pace and level of each student
- Supports offline-friendly use in low-bandwidth areas
- Provides real-time code guidance for beginners and advanced users
- Aligns with real curriculum for classroom or individual study
- Tracks progress to help students stay on course
“We built FasTutorAI not just for students but for the systems that need it most.”
Unlike generic AI tools, FasTutorAI is domain-specific, designed with curriculum integration and educational equity in mind. It works where traditional systems fail, especially in overcrowded classrooms and underserved communities.
Impact Beyond the Classroom
Through his leadership at FEDTC, Osasenaga has helped scale access to AI education, mentorship, and innovation in African communities. With a core belief in building locally relevant but globally impactful solutions, he continues to drive initiatives that challenge the status quo.
“We founded FEDTC to prove that Africans can lead globally in ethical and intelligent innovation.”
“The next classroom may not have four walls but it must have equity.”
