The Lagos State Government in partnership with Chronicles Software Development Company, Tuesday, launched EkoDigitalSchool.com, said to be the largest digital classroom in Africa.

Built on Cloud architecture, the borderless school can accommodate 2 to 10million students concurrently and would be data-free to create equal access for all students so that no one is left out.

Koyejo Oluwatosin, Co-founder of Chronicles Software Development, said the platform is incorporated with all subjects which are aligned based on the curriculum, (week by week) while it also has various important features like assignments, tests, examinations and reports to ensure continuous uninterrupted learning, particularly at this period of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Oluwatosin further explained that the Eko Digital School takes a sequential approach to learning where students are expected to complete specific requirements before accessing the next level of content.

He disclosed that as the use of the platform continues, there are plans to make digital report cards available as well as a universal examination engine for the conduct of SS2 mock exams, SS 3 qualifying exams and teacher promotion examinations among others.

Mrs Folashade Adefisayo, Lagos State Commissioner for Education, who commended Chronicles Software Development Company, said the digital school, which is open to all students and teachers in Lagos, will help them become tech-savvy, learn skills, as well as help, build 21st-century skills that should be integrated into teaching and learning.

She disclosed that to ensure access, the State Government is investing heavily in devices in addition to devices donated by the private sector in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
