The Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) has announced that going forward, its decisions and regulatory services, will be data-driven.

This announcement was made on Monday in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, by the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Commission, Dr. Aminu Maida who was on a familiarisation visit to the Ibadan Zonal Office of the Nigerian Communications Commission.

During the visit, which was part of his series of familiarisation visits to NCC’s Zonal Offices across the country, Dr. Maida emphasised the need to create optimal value for the human assets of the Commission.

Addressing the staff of the Zonal Office during the visit, the NCC helmsman highlighted the importance of data in the discharge of the Commission’s regulatory duties.

According to him, “Data would drive the work that we do. It would help us to know what the issues are, especially from a consumer perspective, and thus provide us a guide on where and how we should intervene.”

Maida also assured that the NCC would meticulously drive compliance under his watch, stating that licensees who sign agreements with the Commission must be held accountable for the terms that they have signed.

Recall that Dr. Aminu Maida was appointed the Executive Vice Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC) by President Bola Tinubu on Wednesday, October 11, 2023.

Until his appointment by the President, Dr. Maida was the Executive Director, Technology and Operations at Nigeria Inter-Bank Settlement System Plc (NIBSS), the country’s central switch company owned by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and all licensed Deposit Money Banks (DMBs) in Nigeria.
