In a bold reaffirmation of its commitment to youth empowerment and national development, leading financial technology firm OPay will convene the Empowering Futures Conference 2025 on October 31 at the Marriott Hotel, Ikeja.

The landmark event marks one year since the launch of the company’s ₦1.2 billion, 10-Year Scholarship Programme, a flagship initiative designed to expand educational access and nurture the next generation of innovators.

According to a statement by the company on Sunday, the conference will unite key stakeholders from academia, the private sector, and the media to review progress made in the past year and explore new frontiers for collaboration in driving social investments across Nigeria.

Since its inception, the OPay ₦1.2 billion Scholarship Programme has emerged as a cornerstone of the company’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) agenda. In its first year alone, the initiative partnered with 20 tertiary institutions nationwide, supporting hundreds of students across Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones with funding for tuition, accommodation, and essential study materials.

Beyond celebrating these milestones, the inaugural Empowering Futures Conference will serve as a launchpad for OPay’s next wave of youth-focused interventions, notably the unveiling of the OPay CyberLab Initiative, a visionary project aimed at advancing digital literacy and innovation across higher institutions in Nigeria.

The event will also highlight the company’s Graduate Recruitment Initiative, which connects top-performing graduates with job placements within the OPay ecosystem. Together, these initiatives underscore OPay’s broader mission to equip young Nigerians with the education, skills, and opportunities needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving digital economy.

Speaking on the significance of the event, Elizabeth Wang, OPay’s Chief Commercial Officer, said: “At OPay, our belief is simple: access to quality education and technology creates lasting change. Through the Scholarship Programme, Graduate Recruitment, and now the CyberLab Initiative, we’re helping young Nigerians turn potential into purpose.

“The Empowering Futures Conference is our way of celebrating these strides and inspiring even greater collaboration for national impact.”

The Empowering Futures Conference 2025 thus represents a defining milestone in OPay’s CSR journey — a platform to celebrate progress, unveil transformative projects, and reaffirm its dedication to empowering Nigerian youth through education, technology, and innovation.

Founded in 2018, OPay has grown into one of Nigeria’s foremost financial institutions, driven by its mission to make financial services more inclusive through technology. The company offers a comprehensive suite of digital payment solutions including money transfers, bill payments, airtime and data purchases, card services, and merchant payments.

Licensed by the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) and insured by the Nigeria Deposit Insurance Corporation (NDIC), OPay continues to set industry standards for speed, reliability, and innovation in financial technology.
