The Journey
As a Product Manager, I have had an exhilarating and fulfilling experience that has added in a great sense to my professional career.

The knowledge and experience I gained in my previous roles were very valuable in helping me understand the product lifecycle and identify customer needs.
In other to meet the need for a product manager when it arose, I had to take online courses, which was a fantastic opportunity to learn and acquire the necessary skills for Product Management.
The program exposed me to the tools and techniques required to develop successful products, such as design thinking, product road mapping, customer discovery, and agile methodologies.
Skills required
For those of us who are aspiring product managers, there are a number of interpersonal as well as role-related skills that you should have, for you to be a successful product manager.
One of the essential skills required for a Product Manager is customer-centricity. Understanding the customer’s needs, pain points, and expectations is crucial to developing a successful product.
Another critical skill is the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, including designers, developers, marketers, and executives.
As a Product Manager, it is essential to know the do’s and don’ts of the job. One of the don’ts is assuming you know what customers want without conducting proper research.
You may have assumptions about the customer’s needs, but it is important to validate them through user research. Another don’t is getting too attached to your product idea. You should be open to feedback and be willing to pivot when necessary.
On the other hand, the do’s include building strong relationships with your team members, setting clear product goals, and constantly communicating with stakeholders. You should also strive to understand the market and stay updated with industry trends.
