Nigeria’s digital landscape continued its rapid evolution in 2025, and YouTube remained at the center of this cultural acceleration. Far beyond being a platform for viral moments, YouTube served as a stage where Nigerian creativity shaped global conversations and reinforced the country’s growing influence in music, film, and digital storytelling.

Throughout the year, Nigerians increasingly turned to the platform not only for entertainment, but for identity, learning, and connection. The announcement also coincides with the introduction of YouTube Recap, a new personalized year-end experience that offers users a tailored breakdown of their viewing habits.

A New Way to Relive Your Year on YouTube

To complement the national rankings, YouTube has introduced YouTube Recap, its most personalized year-end feature yet. The feature also identifies whether users rank among the top 25 percent of viewers for their favourite creators. Users can access their YouTube Recap directly from the homepage of the YouTube app.

Speaking on the release, Addy Awofisayo, Head of Music for Sub-Saharan Africa, YouTube, said: “Nigeria’s creative energy is undeniable, and this year’s lists prove that the nation’s artists and storytellers are creating content that resonates globally.

“From chart-topping music to must-watch Nollywood dramas, we’re proud that YouTube is the place where this talent can shine. With the new YouTube Recap feature, we’re excited to give every user a fun, personal way to celebrate the videos that made their own year special.”
