Mr. Olufemi Soneye, has officially stepped aside from his role as the Chief Corporate Communications Officer of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd), expressing profound gratitude to colleagues and media professionals who supported the company’s communication efforts over the past 20 months.
In a farewell message, the outgoing communications chief described his tenure as “a profound honour,” acknowledging the trust and opportunity extended to him by the company and highlighting the invaluable role of the communications team in shaping the evolving narrative of NNPC Ltd.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to you all for the unwavering support, professionalism, and genuine commitment you’ve shown in helping to shape and amplify the NNPC Ltd story,” he stated. “Your role in building a vibrant and effective communications presence for our national energy company has been nothing short of invaluable.”
Explaining the reason for his departure, he said the decision was driven by the need to devote more time to his family and attend to pressing personal responsibilities that now require his closer attention.
Reflecting on his experience, he added, “I am deeply grateful for the trust reposed in me, the opportunities granted, and the incredible professionals both within and outside the organization with whom I have worked.”
Though stepping down, he pledged continued loyalty and support to the company. “I remain a steadfast supporter and ambassador of NNPC Ltd wherever I go,” he affirmed, while urging colleagues and media practitioners to maintain their “robust, balanced, and constructive reportage in support of the Company’s noble mission and strategic role in Nigeria’s energy future.”
