Air travellers in Nigeria are set for a faster, safer, and more convenient airport experience as the Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) launches Operation Go Cashless, a new digital payment system powered in partnership with Paystack.

Beginning September 29, 2025, passengers and airport users at Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, and Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, will no longer need to carry cash for services such as access gates, car parks, and VIP or protocol lounges.

Instead, all transactions will be processed through secure, contactless payment channels.

According to FAAN, the initiative marks a major step in modernising Nigeria’s airports and bringing them in line with global digital trends.

By reducing reliance on cash, the agency aims to enhance service speed, minimise leakages, and ensure greater transparency in revenue collection.

To ensure a smooth transition, FAAN has deployed trained brand ambassadors across the airports to guide travellers, demonstrate how the system works, and assist with onboarding.

Passengers can also obtain a FAAN Go Cashless Card at designated access gates in Lagos and Abuja, which can be activated and funded instantly at www.gocashless.faan.gov.ng

“The future of payments in our airports is digital, secure, and seamless,” FAAN said in a statement, stressing that the cashless model will improve efficiency while providing travellers with a hassle-free experience.

The agency confirmed that after Lagos and Abuja, the cashless system will be rolled out to other airports nationwide in phases as part of its commitment to continuous service improvement.
