The growing recognition of Nigeria’s telecommunications and Internet sectors as critical drivers of the country’s digital transformation will take centre stage on September 24, 2026, as leading industry stakeholders throw their weight behind the eWorld Forum and the launch of two books by veteran journalist and technology writer, Aaron Ukodie.

Among those supporting the landmark event are the Association of Licensed Telecom Operators of Nigeria (ALTON), its Chairman, Engineer Gbenga Adebayo, Internet Exchange Point of Nigeria (iXPN) and its Chief Executive Officer, Mohammed Rudman.

The event, scheduled to hold at the Oriental Hotel, Lagos, is expected to bring together key players from Nigeria’s telecommunications, Internet, technology, regulatory and media ecosystems to reflect on the evolution of the country’s digital landscape and the forces shaping its future.

The involvement of ALTON and other prominent industry stakeholders underscores the significance of the forum, particularly at a time when telecommunications connectivity and Internet infrastructure have become indispensable to Nigeria’s economic and social development.

As the umbrella association for Nigeria’s licensed telecommunications operators, ALTON has played a central role in shaping conversations around the policies and regulatory frameworks governing the industry.

Through sustained engagement with government, regulators and other stakeholders, the association has advocated measures designed to promote a predictable, transparent and sustainable operating environment.

Under the leadership of Engineer Gbenga Adebayo, ALTON has continued to provide a strong voice for operators on critical industry issues, including regulation, taxation, infrastructure deployment, quality of service, spectrum management and right-of-way charges.

The association has consistently pushed for fair and transparent policies capable of encouraging investment, strengthening industry sustainability and enabling telecommunications operators to deliver better services to millions of Nigerians.

Rudman and iXPN have also made significant contributions to the development of Nigeria’s Internet ecosystem.

Rudman, a respected figure in the technology and Internet community, has been involved in the advancement of Internet infrastructure and digital development in the country and previously served as President of the Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NiRA).

The participation of ALTON, Adebayo, iXPN and Rudman therefore adds considerable industry weight to the eWorld Forum and the book launch, reflecting the deep connection between Nigeria’s telecommunications and Internet evolution and the issues that have shaped the country’s digital journey over the past quarter-century.

The September 24 gathering is expected to provide an opportunity for industry leaders, policymakers, technology professionals and the media to examine the milestones, challenges and emerging opportunities in Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital ecosystem, while also celebrating Ukodie’s contribution to documenting the development of the technology sector through journalism and his books.

The event is positioned not merely as a book launch, but as a gathering that brings together some of the personalities and institutions that have helped shape Nigeria’s telecommunications and Internet story.
