News Highlights:

  • Dr Fiona Ahmed Ahimie is set to become the first female President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers, marking a significant milestone in the history of the Institute and Nigeria’s capital market.
  • Ahead of her investiture, Dr Ahimie inaugurated the LeadHER Mentorship Session to empower emerging female professionals through mentorship, leadership development, networking, and career advancement opportunities.

As preparations gather momentum for her historic investiture as the 14th President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS), Dr Fiona Ahmed Ahimie, Managing Director of First Securities Brokers Limited, has launched the LeadHER Mentorship Session, an initiative aimed at nurturing the next generation of female leaders.

Dr Ahimie, who is set to become the first female President in the history of the Institute, hosted the inaugural edition of the mentorship programme on Thursday, June 18, 2026.

The session, themed “Leading with Purpose, Breaking Barriers, Building Legacy,” attracted emerging female professionals and aspiring leaders from diverse sectors for an engaging afternoon of mentorship, learning and empowerment.

Designed to equip women with practical tools for leadership and career advancement, the LeadHER Mentorship Session provided participants with valuable insights into personal development, overcoming workplace challenges and thriving in traditionally male-dominated industries.

Through candid conversations and the sharing of personal experiences, participants gained perspectives on building successful careers while making meaningful contributions within their organisations and communities.

Speaking at the event, Dr Ahimie stressed that leadership goes beyond personal achievement and should create opportunities for others to succeed.

“Throughout my professional journey, I have benefited from the guidance, support, and encouragement of remarkable mentors. The LeadHER Mentorship Session is an opportunity to pay that forward by equipping and inspiring the next generation of women to pursue excellence, embrace leadership opportunities, and break barriers with confidence,” she said.

According to her, the mentorship initiative forms part of a broader commitment to promoting female participation and leadership across Nigeria’s financial services sector and the wider corporate landscape.

The programme also reflects Dr Ahimie’s longstanding dedication to talent development, professional excellence and inclusive leadership.

Beyond mentorship, the event provided a platform for meaningful dialogue, networking and knowledge sharing among participants drawn from different professional backgrounds.

Dr Ahimie’s forthcoming investiture as President of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers represents a significant milestone for both the Institute and Nigeria’s capital market, underscoring the increasing role of women in shaping the future of the nation’s financial services industry.
