Union Bank of Nigeria has strengthened its reputation as a champion of workplace diversity and women’s economic empowerment, emerging as the Most Outstanding Bank in Gender Inclusion at the Women in Marketing and Communications Conference and Awards (WIMCA) 2026.

The prestigious award was presented on Saturday, August 29, 2026, at the Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island, Lagos, in recognition of the Bank’s sustained efforts to promote gender diversity and create an inclusive environment that enables women to thrive professionally and economically.

The recognition underscores Union Bank’s approach to gender inclusion across its workplace and wider financial ecosystem, including initiatives designed to support women, female entrepreneurs and professionals through tailored financial solutions, capacity building, mentorship, networking opportunities and access to broader economic opportunities.

Themed “Grow, Give, Glow: Building Resilience for Distinction,” WIMCA 2026 brought together leading female marketing and communications professionals from across Africa to examine emerging industry trends, leadership, resilience and strategies for advancing women’s participation in the brand, marketing and communications ecosystem.

Union Bank’s Chief Brand and Marketing Officer, Mrs. Olufunmilola Aluko, was also recognised at the event, making the Top 50 Most Influential Women in Marketing and Communications list. Her recognition came alongside those of other prominent brand and communications executives who participated in the conference.

Reacting to the dual recognition for herself and the Bank, Aluko said the honours reinforce Union Bank’s long-standing commitment to gender inclusion as a catalyst for institutional excellence and sustainable growth.

“Union Bank’s recognition at WIMCA 2026 is a strong validation of our sustained commitment to advancing gender inclusion as a driver of institutional excellence, innovation, and sustainable growth.

“We are proud to champion platforms and initiatives that empower women to lead with confidence, build meaningful careers, and contribute significantly to the evolution of the marketing and communications industry.

“This honour further strengthens our resolve to create greater opportunities for women across our workplace, customer base, and wider society,” she said.

Established by Nigerian brand and marketing publication Brand Communicator, WIMCA has evolved into a major platform for recognising female excellence and amplifying women’s leadership and participation in the brand, marketing and communications industry.

For Union Bank, the latest recognition reinforces its commitment to supporting initiatives that promote women’s empowerment and inclusive participation across the economy, while strengthening opportunities for women to build careers, businesses and sustainable livelihoods.

The Bank said it would continue to support platforms and initiatives that advance inclusive growth and contribute to the development of Nigeria’s marketing, communications and broader business ecosystem.
