Access Women Network (AWN) has partnered with Evolve Charity Trust to distribute essential school supplies to girls in 17 schools across 12 states in Nigeria, in a move aimed at promoting girls’ education, easing the financial burden on families and empowering young girls to achieve their potential.
The initiative will benefit students in Lagos, Abuja, Akwa Ibom, Rivers, Kaduna, Kano, Imo, Kogi, Anambra, Delta, Osun and Edo states.
The school supplies distribution programme is designed to improve access to basic learning materials, strengthen girls’ confidence in the classroom and encourage their continued participation in education, particularly among students from financially disadvantaged backgrounds.
The Lagos phase of the initiative is scheduled for October 14, 15 and 30, 2026, while distribution activities will also take place in participating schools across the other locations.
Access Women Network and Evolve Charity Trust said the intervention underscores the importance of providing girls with the resources they need to learn effectively and pursue their educational aspirations.
By supplying essential learning materials, the organisations also seek to ease the pressure on parents and guardians who struggle to meet the costs of their children’s schooling.
Commenting on the initiative, Iyabo Soji-Okusanya, Executive Director, Corporate and Investment Banking, Access Bank Plc, said every girl deserved the necessary resources and support to succeed.
“Every girl deserves the resources and support she needs to learn, grow and fulfil her potential. Access Women Network is committed to promoting women’s empowerment, supporting girls’ education and creating opportunities for young people to reach their full potential.
“Through initiatives that address barriers to education and community development, the Network seeks to empower the next generation with the resources, confidence and support they need to thrive.
“By partnering with organisations such as Evolve Charity Trust, we are helping to make essential learning materials more accessible to schoolgirls, ease the financial burden on parents and foster a more supportive learning environment.
“The initiative reflects the Network’s belief that investing in girls’ education is an important step towards building stronger communities and creating a future where every girl can learn, grow and succeed.”
Also speaking, Godwin Ejeh, Project Director of Evolve Charity Trust, said the organisation was committed to supporting girls’ education and helping them realise their aspirations.
“Supporting the girl child education in order for them to achieve their dreams in life is the vision of the NGO. The school supplies provided are uniforms, sandals, books, pens, and school bags. This initiative will help boost the confidence of the girls and support their families as it takes away the burden from their parents.
“When you train a girl, you train a nation, and Evolve is excited to partner with Access Women Network to create an enabling environment for girls to access education and build a better future.”
The items being distributed include school uniforms, sandals, books, pens and school bags, which are intended to help students prepare adequately for school and reduce some of the costs associated with their education.
The partnership highlights the role of collaboration between corporate social responsibility initiatives and charitable organisations in addressing barriers to education.
By supporting girls with essential school materials, Access Women Network and Evolve Charity Trust aim to contribute to a more inclusive learning environment and improve opportunities for young girls to develop their skills and build a brighter future.
