The Association of Licensed Telecommunications Operators of Nigeria (ALTON) has announced the maiden edition of the Telecoms Industry Compliance Management Forum (CMF), a groundbreaking initiative designed to deepen the culture of compliance and reinforce self-regulation across Nigeria’s rapidly evolving digital landscape.
Scheduled to hold on Tuesday, 25 November 2025, in Lagos, the Forum, endorsed by the Nigerian Communications Commission (NCC), will bring together key stakeholders, regulatory agencies, and policy leaders to examine practical approaches for embedding compliance and governance as fundamental pillars of sustainable service delivery.
This year’s theme is: “Securing the Future: Navigating Compliance and Governance for Improved Quality of Service and Experience in Nigeria’s Digital Landscape.”
A release by Sir Damian Udeh, ALTON’s Publicity Secretary, noted that a major highlight of the event will be the keynote address by Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, who will speak on “Tax Compliance and the Business of Service Quality under the 2025 Fiscal Policy Framework.”
The Executive Vice Chairman of the NCC, Dr. Aminu Maida, will deliver the Welcome Address titled “Compliance, Governance, and Quality of Experience: Building Trust and Service Excellence in Nigeria’s Digital Economy.”
Other high-profile government leaders expected at the Forum include Dr. Zacch Adedeji, Executive Chairman, Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS); Dr. Olatunji Bello, Chief Executive Officer/Executive Vice-Chairman, Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission (FCCPC); Dr. Vincent Olatunji, National Commissioner/CEO, Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC); and Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman, Special Adviser to the President on Policy & Coordination.
Speaking ahead of the event, ALTON Chairman, Engr. Gbenga Adebayo, described the Forum as an industry-defining intervention.
“This Forum represents an industry-first effort to institutionalize compliance as a shared responsibility. It underscores our strong support for the Federal Government’s fiscal reform agenda and our commitment to align with Mr. President’s economic re-engineering and critical systemic reforms,” Adebayo said.
He noted that 2026 would be a decisive year for the telecommunications industry as ongoing fiscal reforms take full effect, stressing the need for operators to deepen their understanding and preparedness.
Adebayo also commended the Federal Government for its bold reforms aimed at resolving Nigeria’s long-standing challenge of multiple taxation in the telecoms sector.
“For years, our industry grappled with over 50 different taxes at the Federal, State, and Local Government levels, creating operational pressures that affected service quality. The new tax policy direction simplifies compliance, promotes fairness, and builds a predictable operating environment. We sincerely appreciate this decisive effort,” he added.
The Compliance Management Forum will spotlight the intersection of compliance, governance, and fiscal responsibility as crucial levers for enhancing service quality, customer experience, and public trust.
It will equally serve as a platform for dialogue between operators and government institutions to promote accountability and sector-wide collaboration.
