Excitement is in the air as preparations for the 8th edition of the Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition billed for August 25-27, 2020, reach fever pitch.

This year’s edition of the foremost annual gathering of ICT experts, stakeholders, public and private sector players, policymakers and students will for the first time in its 8-year history, hold virtually as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Conversations at the virtual event will be centred around Agriculture, Banking, Retail, Resiliency, Sustainability, Education, Transportation and Logistics, Health and Wellness among others.

Since the flagship event in 2013, the Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition has been one of Africa’s foremost technology, bringing together key stakeholders of the Nigerian and African tech ecosystem such as development agencies, innovators and governments.

It has also been bringing together investors, corporate organizations, media, academia, policymakers, etc. with hundreds of participants drawn from various sectors as well as high profiled speakers and top government representatives.

Themed “Africa’s Post-Pandemic High Tech World,” the conference is shifting to the virtual space with the goal of providing an engaging and meaningful experience for everyone who will be participating as a conference participant, exhibitor or sponsor.

Chairman of Digital Africa Group, Dr. Evans Woherem explained that “the past decade has left a global mark with the emergence of great technologies and innovations which would not have been seen as ‘humanly impossible’ a few decades back.

“Innovations, which will completely transform the African continent when developed and leveraged upon by Africa, and its thriving youth bulge which will drive sustainable development thus enhancing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Africa, is worth looking into deeply.”

He said that this is where the Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition comes in handy to create a unique opportunity for stakeholders of the African technology ecosystem to convene, network, synergize, build partnerships and drive technology and innovation in Nigeria and Africa at large.

“We are again excited to convene the stakeholders of the thriving African tech ecosystem at the 8th Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition 2020 where the development of technology and innovation on the African continent will be fostered.

“The development and domestication of technology innovation if embraced by Africa’s teeming youth population will leapfrog the continent’s development and position Africa as a driver of sustainable development. We are happy to invite enthusiastic individuals, governments and organizations with a similar vision for the African continent to join us on this mission,” Dr. Woherem said.

Our correspondent gathered that speakers at the virtual conference will include Nigeria’s Honourable Minister of Communications & Digital Economy, Dr Isa Ali Pantami; IBM WATSON Artificial Intelligence Xprize Ambassador, Stephen Ibaraki; Andy Chen; and University of Pretoria, South Africa Professor, Prof. Joe Amadi Echendu.

Others include Robin Raskin, founder of Living in Digital Times; Hon. Ursula Owusu-Ekuful, Minister of Communications, Ghana; and other ICT experts such as Nanjira Sambuli, Emmanuel Edward, Sandeep Rakshit, Dr Evans Woherem and many more.

Exhibitors at the virtual event are expected to take advantage of the online exhibition of the 8th edition of the Digital Africa Conference and Exhibition for effective opportunity to strengthen their business position and enter new markets, meet and connect with potential clients, increase their brand awareness by having access to the Global Digital Business Network and launch new products among other opportunities.
