AI interactive content company, Flam, has raised $40 million in Series B funding to accelerate the development of its artificial intelligence products and expand its enterprise business globally, including a push into Nigeria’s fast-growing digital market.
The funding round was led by QED Investors, with participation from Claypond Capital, Martin Chavez, Olivier Pomel, Venky Harinarayan and Shah Rukh Khan. Existing investors RTP Global and Dovetail also increased their commitments to the company.
The latest investment comes as Flam positions interactive content as the next major evolution of digital media, moving beyond the traditional one-way relationship between content creators and audiences.
In Nigeria, Flam is working with SmartSense Technologies as its exclusive partner, with the partnership focused on adapting and deploying the company’s AI-powered interactive content technologies for brands, agencies and enterprises.
“Nigeria is an exceptionally mobile-first market, with brands and consumers that adopt new forms of digital engagement very quickly,” said Dr. Seyi, CEO of SmartSense Technologies, Flam’s exclusive partner in Nigeria.
“Flam gives brands the ability to move beyond passive content and create experiences people can interact with, respond to and participate in. Our role at SmartSense is to bring that capability into the Nigerian market, localise it for real business use cases, and help brands, agencies and enterprises deploy it at scale.”
Flam has secured more than 100 enterprise customers in six quarters, including Google, Emirates and KFC. Its technology is being used across a range of applications, including marketing, product visualisation, learning and development, entertainment, fan engagement, customer support and sales.
According to Flam founder Shourya Agarwal, the company is building around a fundamental shift in how people consume digital content.
“Flam is built on a simple observation. Content has moved in waves, from text to images to video, and every wave flowed one way, creator to viewer. We think interactive is the next default for the internet,” Agarwal said.
“The demand was always there. The technology wasn’t. We have made interactivity effortless to build and deploy at enterprise scale.”
Flam currently holds more than 15 patents and offers three core interactive content formats.
Its Flicks technology enables interactive videos that can switch a person, product or scene during playback. The system uses a patented compression algorithm and is delivered programmatically with a 50-millisecond time-to-first-buffer.
Forge, Flam’s editing model, allows users to provide image references and modify only specified elements, while Airboards deliver high-fidelity 3D content through a camera interface incorporating touch, voice interactions and haptic feedback.
The company said its 3D streaming technology can load Airboards in about 300 milliseconds without requiring users to install an application. Its Fable image-to-video model generates assets as native alpha-channel videos.
Flam is also developing Visual Agents, human-like AI characters capable of holding conversations and taking agentic actions. The company describes the experience as being closer to a video call than a conventional chat window.
Its technology stack includes Fantom for facial expression, identity preservation and motion transfer; Finesse for multilingual voice capabilities; and Falcon, a 26-billion-parameter mixture-of-experts large language model designed to deliver responses with a 30-millisecond time-to-first-token. Flam said the complete pipeline can return an answer in less than two seconds.
Nigel Morris, Co-Founder and Managing Partner at QED Investors, said Flam stood out because of its focus on creating an entirely new category of interactive digital content rather than simply improving existing formats.
“Almost every frontier AI content company we see is optimizing what already exists. Flam pointed at something else: how much of the content ecosystem is still untouched. That gap is bigger than most people think, and Flam is the first team we’ve seen with the infrastructure to go after it,” Morris said.
The new capital will be deployed toward research and development of Flam’s AI models, expansion of its product portfolio and the scaling of its enterprise sales operations globally.
