MTN Nigeria has reaffirmed its commitment to delivering reliable connectivity in underserved regions with the successful completion of a major network upgrade in Adamawa, Borno, and Kano States.

The restoration follows scheduled maintenance on Sunday, August 24, which affected 101 sites across 15 Local Government Areas (LGAs).

As part of the upgrade, MTN engineers cut over traffic to a newly installed fibre span along the AFCOT–Bawo Village route in Adamawa State, replacing a previously damaged section of its infrastructure.

The operation, carried out during daylight hours to ensure the safety of field engineers, was concluded within schedule, with all services restored before 1 PM on the same day.

“We can confirm that all impacted sites have been fully restored, and services are now operating normally,” the company stated, while appreciating subscribers’ patience and apologizing for the temporary inconvenience.

The maintenance temporarily disrupted 2G, 3G, 4G, and enterprise connectivity in LGAs including Girei, Song, Mubi North, Hong, and Michika in Adamawa; Askira/Uba and Shani in Borno; and Nasarawa in Kano.

MTN explained that the exercise was critical to strengthening service resilience in the Northeast, a region often faced with multiple fibre cuts and vandalism.

This move, the company noted, aligns with its broader strategy of expanding and fortifying infrastructure to ensure consistent and quality service delivery across Nigeria.
