  • Groundbreaking collaboration for digital transformation
  • Alliance has key initiatives for nationwide impact

The National Council for Arts and Culture (NCAC) and the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) have announced a groundbreaking partnership to integrate Nigeria’s cultural and creative industries (CCI) with the country’s digital and innovation ecosystems.

In a meeting held at NITDA headquarters in Abuja, NCAC Director-General Mr. Obi Asika and NITDA Director-General Kashifu Inuwa, alongside their senior leadership teams, formalized a collaborative framework to drive growth, innovation, and digital transformation in Nigeria’s creative and cultural sectors.

A release jointly signed by Dr. Dennis Olofu, Head of Media, NCAC and Mrs. Hadiza Umar, Director, Corporate Communications and Media Relations, NITDA respectively, said that as part of this partnership, NCAC’s flagship programme, ICE (Innovate, Create, Empower), will be scaled up with NITDA’s support, targeting 2 million Nigerians across 1,000 locations nationwide by 2027.

NITDA will provide training facilities and digital labs to enhance the programme’s reach and effectiveness. Additionally, digital platforms for cultural inventory, fan engagement, e-commerce, and capacity building will be developed with assistance from NITDA’s cloud services and local distribution networks.

The collaboration also includes infrastructure development, with NCAC requesting NITDA’s assistance in equipping its headquarters and zonal offices with computers, tablets, consumables, digital labs, and podcast studios to achieve full digital transformation.

Furthermore, NCAC will mobilize creative and cultural communities to participate in key events like GITEX Nigeria 2025.

Both agencies have also agreed to pilot the BuyNigeria.ng e-commerce platform, focusing initially on markets in Kano, Lagos, Aba, and Abuja, to bring Nigerian traders and artisans online.

A joint committee comprising directors from both organizations has been established to oversee the seamless implementation of these initiatives.

The partnership extends to NCAC’s Nigeria’s Got Talent platform, which will integrate NITDA’s digital literacy programmes and gamified learning systems, creating a digitally empowered environment for creatives to thrive.

This collaboration marks a significant step in merging Nigeria’s rich cultural heritage with modern digital innovation, unlocking immense potential for the nation’s creative and digital economies.
