LG Electronics has highlighted the role of technology in strengthening international partnerships and improving everyday life, showcasing its latest innovations at the Republic of Korea’s National Day celebration in Abuja.
The company used the occasion to demonstrate how human-centred technology can promote convenience, connectivity and energy efficiency, while reinforcing the longstanding relationship between Nigeria and South Korea.
Hosted by the Embassy of the Republic of Korea under the theme “One Heaven. One Earth. One Humanity,” the celebration brought together government officials, members of the diplomatic community, business leaders and development partners to commemorate the friendship between both countries and explore opportunities for sustainable growth.
At the event, LG Electronics created an interactive exhibition where guests experienced its range of Korean technologies, including premium OLED displays, Soundbar and xboom audio systems, AI-powered home appliances and smart living solutions.
The exhibition offered visitors an opportunity to explore how technological innovation can address everyday challenges, enhance comfort and convenience, and support more efficient lifestyles.
The engagement also underscored the growing importance of practical, accessible technologies in shaping modern homes and creating more connected living environments.
Speaking at the celebration, Mr. Hyoung Sub Ji, Managing Director of LG Electronics, said the true value of innovation lies in its ability to improve people’s lives.
“Technology is most meaningful when it creates positive experiences for people. What made this event special was seeing guests engage openly, ask questions, and discover how innovation can address everyday challenges. As a Korean brand that has shared a long journey with Nigeria, we remain committed to delivering solutions that make life better while fostering stronger connections between our two countries,” he said.
The celebration also provided an opportunity to highlight the expanding relationship between Nigeria and South Korea, particularly in technology, education, trade, entrepreneurship and skills development.
In his keynote address, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, Ambassador Jeong Yo-an, stressed the importance of sustained collaboration between both nations, identifying innovation, human capital development and strategic partnerships as critical drivers of sustainable growth.
He noted that Korean companies, including LG Electronics, demonstrate how technological innovation can translate into practical solutions that improve living standards and support a more sustainable future.
“Companies such as LG Electronics exemplify the strength of Korea-Nigeria cooperation, demonstrating how innovation can translate into meaningful, energy-efficient home appliances. More so, as the brand contributes to a more convenient, connected and sustainable future,” he said.
Representing Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Chief of Protocol at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Amb. Babagana Wakil, called for stronger bilateral cooperation in industrial manufacturing, technology transfer, agriculture, education and maritime development.
He emphasised the considerable opportunities available to both countries to achieve shared economic and developmental objectives through practical collaboration.
Beyond the diplomatic engagements and official speeches, the celebration showcased the role of cultural exchange in strengthening international relations.
Guests experienced Korean cuisine, traditional performances and Taekwondo demonstrations, while interactions among participants highlighted the importance of people-to-people engagement in building lasting connections.
The increasing popularity of Korean culture in Nigeria, alongside the expanding global influence of Nigerian creative industries, was also reflected in the celebration, demonstrating how cultural exchange continues to create new opportunities for mutual understanding and cooperation.
For LG Electronics, its participation in the event went beyond showcasing products and technological capabilities. It reflected the company’s commitment to developing innovations that are accessible, meaningful and capable of making a positive difference in people’s daily lives.
As Nigeria and South Korea continue to strengthen their partnership, technology, cultural exchange and human-centred innovation remain important avenues for promoting shared progress and deepening bilateral relations.
South Korea’s National Foundation Day commemorates the founding ideals of the Korean people, often interpreted as “to benefit all humanity”.
The Abuja celebration reflected this vision by bringing together diverse communities in a shared expression of friendship, cooperation and progress, while demonstrating how innovation and international partnerships can contribute to a more connected and sustainable future for generations to come.
