As the date for the Cyberchain 2021 draws closer, organisers of the event have said that they are bringing together, some of the best minds in Cybersecurity, Fintech, eSports, RegTech, and Blockchain ecosystems to share deep insights and leading trends to help the country get up to speed with industry’s best practices.

The Cyberchain 2021 Conference which is themed: Enabling the Digital Economy, holds on November 19- 20, 2021 at the Lagos Oriental Hotel.

Speaking at a media parley on Tuesday, Convener of Cyberchain 2021, Jude Ozinegbe said that the Nigerian technology space has experienced a plethora of events in the past year, from Tier-1 Fintechs becoming Unicorns, to many others attracting Investors both home and offshore, and some closing shops and a few more getting birthed.

Ozinegbe disclosed that some of the highlights of the two-day event will include discussions on Non-Fungible Token (NFT), DeFi, GameFi, CBDC, Crypto Regulation, Smart Contract, several Blockchain Use Cases, Cybersecurity Hackathon, panel sessions, exhibitions, book launch, Awards and many more.

Speaking specifically about the Cybersecurity Hackathon, Ozinegbe noted that beyond focusing on leading technologies in Nigeria, the Cyberchain 2021 Conference will also witness a hackathon called Cyberthon, which according to him, is meant to discourage unethical hacking and encourage a competition that would bring about passion and love for the nation.

Ozinegbe disclosed that the Cyberthon which will hold on the last day of the Conference will attract cash prizes of US$1,000 for the overall winner; US$500 for the second-place winner; and US$300 for the third paced winner, while the fourth and fifth-placed will go home with Smartphones as consolation prizes.

On what is expected at Cyberchain 2021, the Convener said, “A lot is expected at Cyberchain 2021. DeFis and NFTs have filled the ecosystem, regulators have woken up, builders and creators are getting smarter, users are demanding more, dip buyers are getting “dipper” and everyone wants to stay safe and keep their digital assets secure. So it’s time we came together again and do what we do best – harmonize Cybersecurity and Blockchain.

“We have taken time to bring together, some of the best minds in the Cybersecurity, Fintech, RegTech, and Blockchain ecosystems to share deep insights and leading trends to help us get up to speed with industry’s best practices.

“As you know, Blockchain is the leading technology world over, with related fields like Digital Currencies and Decentralized Finance (DeFi), Non-Fungible Tokens (NFTs). To be a leader in this field, you need to take a step further to understand the technology at a professional level. And that is what Cyberchain 2021 will try to deepen.”

Deji Aderoju, a representative of Digital Encode, one of the event partners, threw more light into what the cybersecurity firm will be doing at the event and noted that the company will bring to bear, its professionalism in the design, management, and security of business especially its expertise in solving multifaceted, complex enterprise network security and audit problems.

Emmanuel Oyelakin, Chairman, Lagos State ESports Association spoke about the place of eSports in the growth of the Digital Economy and why the Association is participating in the Cyberchain 2021 Conference, noting that it aims to use the Conference to expose the youths and equip them with skills relevant in the esports and gaming ecosystem as well as in digital technology.
