Dangote Group is entering a new phase of global industrial leadership with the announcement of a strategic partnership with Honeywell International Inc., a move set to accelerate the expansion of the Dangote Petroleum Refinery and reinforce Nigeria’s energy future.

Under this landmark collaboration, Honeywell will deliver advanced technologies, specialty catalysts, and critical process systems that will enable the refinery to increase its processing capacity to 1.4 million barrels per day by 2028, a transformative milestone in Dangote’s journey toward building the world’s largest integrated refining and petrochemical complex.

Honeywell, one of the world’s leading Fortune 100 technology and industrial giants, brings decades of innovation across aviation, automotive, industrial automation, and materials science.

Its UOP division has partnered with Dangote since 2017, supplying proprietary refining innovations such as catalyst regeneration systems, high-performance column trays, and heat-exchange technologies that sustain the refinery’s world-class operational standards.

As part of the wider collaboration, Dangote Group is also scaling its petrochemical capacity. Leveraging Honeywell’s Oleflex technology, the Group will expand polypropylene output to 2.4 million metric tons per year, significantly boosting domestic industrial supply and strengthening Nigeria’s position in global manufacturing value chains. Polypropylene remains a critical raw material for packaging, textiles, automotive components, and consumer goods.

Beyond refining and petrochemicals, Dangote Group is advancing its fertiliser expansion programme. Nigeria’s largest fertiliser producer will triple its urea production capacity, from the current 3 million metric tons to 9 million metric tons annually.

The existing two 1.5-million-ton trains will be complemented by four additional trains, ensuring steady supply for African agriculture while positioning the company as a major global player in the fertiliser market.

With this strategic partnership and multi-sector expansion, Dangote Group reaffirms its commitment to building world-scale capacity, bolstering Nigeria’s energy and food security, and driving sustainable economic growth through innovation, investment, and global collaboration.
