Osinowo Ibrahim, Chief Executive Officer and Founder of Moriahrock International and Risktech Co. Ltd., has unveiled an ambitious vision to leverage insurance technology and digital health solutions to tackle the persistent challenges of pharmaceutical affordability and access in Nigeria.
Osinowo disclosed the initiative during an interview on November 13, 2025, on the sidelines of a National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA) event at the Bola Ahmed Tinubu International Conference Centre in Abuja, where technology leaders and other stakeholders discussed digital transformation, national security and internet governance in Nigeria.
The proposed solution, which Osinowo said is expected to be unveiled by the end of 2026, is being designed as a technology-driven healthcare transaction platform capable of connecting key stakeholders across the pharmaceutical, healthcare and insurance value chains.
According to him, the initiative is driven by the need to address a major gap in Nigeria’s healthcare system, where many patients struggle not only to obtain prescribed medicines but also to afford them, secure insurance coverage, verify healthcare transactions, process claims and complete payments efficiently.
Osinowo explained that the planned InsurTech product would provide digital infrastructure for connecting patients, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies, insurers and relevant government or institutional support programmes.
He said the platform would explore how insurance coverage, healthcare financing and technology could be integrated to make essential medicines and medical services more accessible to Nigerians, particularly those who are unable to meet the rising cost of healthcare from their personal resources.
“The challenge is not always availability. In many cases, people cannot afford the medicines they have been prescribed, while others face difficulties navigating insurance, claims and payment processes,” Osinowo noted, stressing the need for practical technology solutions that address real-world problems within the healthcare ecosystem.
The initiative represents a significant step in Osinowo’s transition from traditional insurance practice into InsurTech, digital health and commercial technology product development.
His experience in risk management, insurance, financial services and claims-related processes has informed his approach to developing a solution that brings technology and healthcare financing closer together.
He said his vision is to build a system that goes beyond simply digitising existing processes, but creates a more connected and efficient ecosystem in which patients can access healthcare support with greater ease, transparency and affordability.
The proposed platform is also expected to demonstrate how emerging technologies can be deployed to strengthen healthcare transactions, improve coordination among stakeholders and potentially reduce some of the administrative barriers that contribute to delays and inefficiencies in accessing medicines and insurance-backed healthcare.
Osinowo’s intervention comes at a time when Nigeria’s healthcare sector is under increasing pressure from rising medical and pharmaceutical costs, making technology-enabled financing and access solutions increasingly important.
He expressed confidence that the planned product, when unveiled, could contribute to reshaping the relationship between insurance, healthcare providers, pharmaceutical companies and patients by creating a more seamless digital pathway for healthcare transactions.
For Osinowo, the broader objective is clear: to harness technology not merely as a business opportunity, but as an instrument for solving one of Nigeria’s most pressing social and economic challenges—ensuring that access to essential medicines and healthcare is not determined solely by a patient’s ability to pay upfront.
The proposed InsurTech initiative, therefore, represents his emerging vision of a digitally connected healthcare ecosystem in which insurance and technology work together to make quality healthcare more accessible, affordable and responsive to the needs of Nigerians.
