PalmPay’s growing footprint in Nigeria’s digital financial services sector has earned the fintech company the Digital Payments Platform of the Year award at the 2026 BusinessDay Banks and Other Financial Institutions (BAFI) Awards.
The award, presented on October 9, 2026, at the Civic Centre in Lagos, recognises PalmPay’s contribution to the expansion of digital payments and financial inclusion in Nigeria, and was formally presented to the company by Frank Aigbogun, renowned publisher and co-founder of BusinessDay.
Since its launch in Nigeria in 2019, PalmPay has developed an inclusive digital financial services ecosystem that enables customers to make payments, pay bills and access other financial services through its platform.
The company currently serves more than 35 million users in Nigeria, supported by an extensive network of merchants and agents facilitating digital transactions across the country.
Commenting on the recognition, Chika Nwosu, Managing Director of PalmPay Nigeria, said the award reflected the company’s commitment to developing financial services that address the everyday needs of Nigerians.
“We are honoured to receive the Digital Payments Platform of the Year award at the BAFI Awards. Digital payments have become an important part of how Nigerians manage their finances, run businesses and carry out everyday transactions.
“This award reflects our continued commitment to making financial services more accessible, reliable and secure for the millions of customers who use PalmPay every day.”
Nwosu added that the company’s role in advancing financial inclusion extended beyond facilitating transactions to equipping customers with the knowledge and support needed to use digital financial services safely.
“As the industry continues to advance financial inclusion, our responsibility goes beyond enabling transactions. At PalmPay, we want to give customers the tools, information and support they need to use these services confidently and securely.”
The company’s emphasis on consumer protection is also reflected in its ongoing PalmPay Dey For You campaign, which educates customers about the platform’s security features and promotes safer digital financial habits.
The initiative underscores the growing importance of consumer trust and transaction security in Nigeria’s evolving digital payments ecosystem. As more individuals and businesses embrace online financial services, confidence in the safety and reliability of digital platforms remains essential to sustaining adoption and broadening financial inclusion.
By combining accessibility and convenience with customer education and protection, PalmPay aims to encourage more Nigerians to participate confidently in the digital economy.
The recognition comes amid the increasing role of digital payment platforms in everyday financial activities, including business transactions, bill payments and personal money management.
For providers such as PalmPay, sustaining this growth requires not only expanding access but also strengthening the safeguards that protect users and their transactions.
PalmPay said it would continue investing in technology, security and customer experience as it seeks to expand access to reliable financial services across Nigeria and its other markets.
